My Husband Collapsed at the Station. The Station Staff Immediately Performed CPR, Leading to a Swift Hospitalization
On December 28, 2019, my usually very healthy husband was returning home in the early evening. As he was about to exit the ticket gate at Imazato Station on the Sennichimae Subway Line in Osaka around 5 PM, he slowly fell backward. Within a minute, his complexion turned ashen.
At that time, three station staff members were at the ticket gate. They took turns performing CPR manually, not using an AED. An ambulance arrived quickly from a fire station about 500 meters away and took him to the Heart Center at Osaka Police Hospital in Tennoji Ward.
Around 7 PM, I received a call from the paramedics and rushed to the hospital. I met my husband, who smiled faintly from his hospital bed. The doctor explained, “Your husband was very lucky. He was admitted very quickly. Considering his age, we should put in a pacemaker after the New Year.” I then went home.
Despite Usually Being Absent, Three Station Staff Members Were Miraculously Present at That Time
It was around 9 PM, but I wanted to thank the station staff, so I went to Imazato Station. The three staff members were in the station master’s office. They raised their hands and, with a smile, said, “Yes, we helped.” It was a shift change time, so all three were present when my husband fainted.
Later, every time I saw the notice at the ticket gate that read, “If you need assistance, please go to the station master’s office or press the bell,” I realized again that my husband was saved by the blessings of the Gohonzon.
My Husband Underwent Surgery, Completed the Hospital Stay Successfully, and Is Now Fully Recovered.
The surgery was scheduled for January 6. However, that day was also the day for a religious service called Okō at our home. We asked the doctor to postpone the surgery to the 9th.
Since the COVID-19 situation was not severe at that time, my daughter and I offered prayers to the portable Gohonzon chanting Odaimoku, Namu Myoho Renge Kyo, in the hospital waiting room for two hours on the day of the surgery. The priest in charge and parish believers prayed for the success of my husband’s surgery at the temple, too. We were deeply grateful for the assistance.
After the two-hour surgery, my husband returned to the hospital room and was sitting up with a smile. During his 20-day hospital stay, he experienced no pain and was very grateful. He now undergoes check-ups three times a year and is 86 years old, living healthily. Our fmaily is so delighted.
To repay the blessings we received from the Gohonzon, I will continue to do my best in our dedicated service, albeit in a small way.
